The eventual result of Louis XVI's removal from the throne of France was a reorganization of France under the?

Louis XVI was removed from the throne in August 1792, during the French Revolution. The National Convention declared France a republic the following month thus putting an end to the monarchy. The French Revolution, which began as a liberal middle class reform movement passed through a radical stage especially during the "Reign of Terror". Eventually it passed to a moderate but corrupt stage under the "Directory". Napoleon returned to France from abroad and overthrew the government and set himself up as the First Consul. I guess the reoganization of France in the period between the removal of Louis XVI and the rise of Napoleon was considered revolutionary because the French people seeking democracy overthrew the monarchy which had existed for centuries. It was a social revolution as well as a political one. For centuries most of the people were peasants and had to put up with the priveleges of the nobility. During the radical, violent stage of the Revolution the people of Paris set up the guillotine and executed the nobles and the clergy and drove the rest into exile. The property of the Catholic Church was seized by the new revolutionary government and sold to the common people. I hope that this has been some help to you.
